A Passive Frequency - The Watchers

Across the steppes of Central Asia, along the coastlines of northern Europe, on the edges of deserts and plains, governments erected towers and blockhouses with a single purpose: to see as far as possible, for as long as necessary. A Passive Frequency imagines these structures in landscapes where they were never built, solitary, windowless, broken only by narrow viewing slits facing an empty horizon, watching for an enemy that never came.
